Denmark - Gaasegildet 1913. Mortensaften, or St. Martin's Day eve, is celebrated in November in Denmark, honoring the Sainthood of Martin of Tours. Since Danes are not deeply religious people, the day holds no religious value but is celebrated nonetheless with full vigor in the embrace of family, a traditional menu and general merriment.
