Pane of 20 dated 1943, honoring military heroes, ranging from obscure (nurse Anna Bernatitus #8) to famous (admiral “Bull” Halsey #3). Publisher R.L. Parkinson, Chicago; Artist Louis V. Bonhajo (1885-1972). Bonhajo painted art for several Chicago produced poster stamp series in the 1930’s-40’s, including one well known set on the life of Abraham Lincoln. Printed by halftone offset process, pane 10.4”square.
