Smokey Bear Is 80: Smokey on Poster Stamps

Here’s a biography of Smokey Bear, born during World War 2 out of worries about war related fires along the west coast– and grew to be the icon for forest fire prevention in general.  And here are all of the Smokey Bear Poster Stamps printed as part of the Wildfire Prevention campaign by the U.S. and State Forest Services (1944-1990).
