April No Fooling:
The latest issue of PSB is out and on its way
The latest issue of the Poster Stamp Bulletin (PSB #349) was mailed April 2, and the website version will be posted this weekend. This latest issue theme is early movies and the now rare pictures of movie stars in the era just before WW1.
For the curious, the woman above is Freida Ulricke Porten (1890-1960) the first major film star in Germany, nicknamed “Henny”. Henny had a amazingly long movie acting–and producing–career, from 1906 to 1955. There is an entry on her in Wikipedia.
February News:
And Our love for poster stamps never tires. Content keeps going along. The Sammlermaerkat issues #2, 3 & #4 of 1913 are available just above, a Valentine to all our members. And we are still having some troubles with our website software. Apologies.
The latest issue of PSB is here
The latest issue of the Poster Stamp Bulletin (PSB #348) was mailed January 31, and the website version is in the Library. This latest issue theme is the growth of modernism between the wars, especially the avant garde of Germany, far ahead of US acceptance at that time. This was inspired by a newsletter from the online MCBerman art collection– which showed 24 select poster stamps. It isn’t often when an art institution recognizes poster stamps as worthy of note!!
